Housekeeping that leaves a good smell.
When housekeeping is done properly, the instant you walk into any house, you can actually smell and recognize a scent. That same scent is probably there every time you step into that same place whether there has been some cooking going on or not. Each house has its own distinct scent and how good or bad the smell is depends on how we take care of the surroundings.
Scents can be easily remembered and even tied up with places. Either stinky or refreshing, some houses just get tied with special scents in our memories. You definitely not want people to remember your house when they smell some stinky smell. In this article, we are going to explain for you how you can turn your house into a refreshing and breath-taking heaven.
Do your Housekeeping and Let the Air In
The first and most important rule for air freshness is letting new air in the house. There is no point of doing any refreshment tries without changing the base first. Otherwise, if you just try to infuse any kind of scents with the air you had closed inside the house for more than ten hours, will create for you even more bad odors. First thing in the morning, open all windows possible in all rooms to get the air changed for at least one hour.
Put some Greens
Green plants can do wonders for your house, from cleaning the air to providing more oxygen, and even diffuse amazing scents. They are the natural air purifiers. Bring plants with special and pleasant smells like gardenia, Jasmine, geraniums, orchids, peace lilies, and magnolia.
Use Oil Diffusers
Oil diffuser machines are being sold everywhere and are super easy to use. All you need to do is fill it up with water, pour a few drops of your favorite essential oil scent and let the mist spread through the house.
Housekeeping and Fabric Spray
Fabrics can hold a lot of smells especially when cooking; the smell could stay on for long. If you don’t want to buy fabric spray you can simply create your own. Mix water with a few drops of an essential oil and a bit of baking soda in a spray bottle. Shake well and spray on any fabric you want to.
Dryer sheets are not just for laundry. Putting them in your family’s closet can diffuse the scent all over the closet and the clothes to keep them smelling so fresh and so good.
Clean the Garbage Disposal
The garbage disposal of your sink can be the source of the stinky smell you’re wondering about. Get rid of the smell by putting white vinegar and citrus. If citrus is not available you can use lemon or orange extract. If it doesn’t work, pour in a cup of baking soda then run in warm water.
Clean the Garbage Cans
Even after you throw away that nasty bag of trash, sometimes you can still smell bad odors coming from the same place. The serious problem here might be the trash can itself. Try giving it a deep housekeeping like a pro every two or three weeks. Put on the gloves, use a disinfectant and soap, and a scrubbing brush. To prevent odors sticking to the can, try putting baking soda or dryer sheets at the bottom.
Change your Bed Sheets
Our bed sheets tend to hold a lot of bacteria that gets transferred from us. Even worse, they start smelling bad if not changed on a weekly basis, especially pillows. You can realize a difference in the room’s atmosphere after changing them.
Vanilla in the Oven
Put two teaspoons of vanilla extract in a cup in a hot oven for about twenty minutes, and all your house (and probably the neighbors’) will smell like heaven.
